To the right you'll see the first photo of a tiled shower base and tub feature. Always try to plan
as far ahead as possible when designing and building a custom bath. Think of tile sizes and layouts, structure support, water
proofing and future shower door dimensions, etc.
Then take upmost care in putting together a sloped and water tight shower drain system. We utilize the Schluter
shower base and integrated drain systems. Schluter offers a fantastic functional design that gives you drain location and
tile layout flexibility. Top that off with speed of installation and perfectly sloped drains and you will appreciate the ability
to focus more on design ideas instead of fretting about water intrusion & future liability.

| Non modified mortar is mixed to a nice and smooth consistency. |
| Make certain the thinset coverage is complete. |

| Also confirm the membrane laps up the walls and curb. |
| Schluter utilizes a 4" square drain. Very Nice. |
|
|
| The drains come in various colors such as stainless, bronze, copper, etc. |
When setting tile, we make sure to get a complete bedding into the thinset. We use Mapei Premium Dryset for our
shower systems and have never had a call-back or failure. We also use Mapei's Opticolor epoxy grout kits. Near bullet
proof, water tight, stain proof and consistant performance. It meets our needs quite nicely and assists us in providing
a superior project to our clients.

Follow the step by step pictorial and watch a tiled shower feature unfold.
| Here's the starting point for this custom bath. |
|
|
| Some framing adjustments, swap out the drain, and prep for backerboard. |
| Check for backer board support. |
|
|
| Check for flat walls, plumb framing and adequate space for a good tile design layout |
Ensure that your cement board is fastened adequately. Make sure dimensions are square and walls are
flat. You'll be thankful you did when it comes time to setting the tiles and having uniform sizes and straight grout lines.
| The integrated drain flange is set into place. |
|
|
| The Schluter drain flange fits nicely down into the sloped base system. |
| Take care to lap at least 2" if not more |
|
|
| Also utilize your corner waterproofing pieces: Safety First. |
