This is our version of taking an outdated fixer house and transforming it into a fresh and inviting home.

This project was a 1972 - 2 bedroom bungalow style house in great need of some TLC as the pictures below will show. With just two weeks of work the house is now warm and attractive inside, and will show very, very well when it's time to go onto the market.

PHOTOS HAVE NOT BEEN ALTERED IN ANY WAY, and were taken with the same camera. (a 2.3mp olympus D-510)

Un-attached counter, Exposed Venting, Missing Trim
kitchena.jpg

The kitchen shown above was not expensive to update. The appliances were already quite new.  The vent for the microwave needed to be boxed in. The walls were quick to paint. The sink needed a disposal, so the new wiring in the backsplash created an opportunity to do a fun beadboard panel. Remnant 6" splash tiles made for a quick and easy accent texture set atop the new coal-flek formica countertop.

New Countertops, Fresh Painted Cabs, Tiled Splash

Existing Main Bathroom.

Mismatched hardware. Old doors. Single bulb fixture.

The main bathroom shown above had purple walls with a dark floral border, an old Fir vanity, a single piece of Maple on the window sill, and an oak medicine cabinet. All was lit by a single bulb light fixture.

By adding a new Oak vanity and trimming the window in white, the wood grains and colors are now consistant. The new beige wall paint stays in the background so the accents like the new brushed nickel bath hardware can show off.  A bright vanity light-bar made the whole room warmer on the eyes.

Add in some mismatched wood and floral wall paper and the damage is complete.

Ok. This room was the most fun. It took:

Just 6 hours to complete.
1 can of neutral paint.
Some whitewood trim.
A small Oak vanity w/ molded sink top.
2 boxes of faux tile laminate flooring.
1- Oak toilet seat.
1- 36" mirror.
1- Toilet accent shelving unit.
1- Small vanity light bar.
1 -Brushed Nickel bath hardware set.
1 -door w/ Nickel privacy lever.

6 hour quick blitz. Looks a bit more inviting now.

Hard to believe this is the same bathroom from above...

So, with a little thought and efficient application, the value of a home can be increased substantially. Both in the well- being and enjoyment of the occupant, and financially when it comes time to go to market.
